Editorial Policy

Transparency builds trust. Here's exactly how we choose, test, and review products at GlowLab Review.

Our Mission

GlowLab Review is an independent review and comparison site for at-home beauty technology. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions by providing honest, thorough, and science-backed reviews of LED masks, teeth whitening kits, serums, and other beauty devices.

How We Choose Products

We select products to review based on:

  • Market relevance: Products that are popular, well-reviewed by users, or represent significant innovation
  • Reader interest: Devices you're asking about or searching for
  • Price range diversity: We test budget, mid-range, and premium options to give you choices at every level
  • Safety considerations: We prioritise products that meet UK safety standards and are suitable for home use

We do not accept payment from brands to feature their products. Our selection is entirely editorial.

How We Test

Our testing process varies by product type but generally includes:

  • Physical evaluation: Build quality, comfort, ease of use, and design
  • Specification verification: We check claimed wavelengths, power output, and features against manufacturer claims
  • Real-world use: We use products in actual home environments over weeks or months, not just initial impressions
  • Research: We review clinical studies, user feedback from verified sources, and expert commentary
  • Comparison: We compare products against direct competitors in the same price range

For detailed testing criteria, see our How We Test page.

Editorial Independence

Our Core Principle:

No brand can pay for a positive review or higher ranking. Our editorial team makes all review decisions independently.

What this means:

  • We write honest pros and cons, even for products from partner brands
  • If a product has flaws (poor battery life, uncomfortable fit, weak power), we report them
  • Our "best of" lists are based on testing and research, not sponsorship
  • We decline to review products that don't meet our safety or quality standards, regardless of brand relationships

Gifted Products & PR Samples

Sometimes brands send us products for free to test (known as "PR samples" or "gifted products"). This is common in the beauty tech industry because devices can be expensive.

Important: Accepting a gifted product does NOT guarantee:

  • A review will be published
  • A positive review if we do write about it
  • Placement in "best of" lists

We treat gifted products with the same scrutiny as products we purchase ourselves. If a product is gifted, we may mention it in the review for transparency, but it does not influence our assessment.

Affiliate Links

GlowLab Review is reader-supported through affiliate partnerships. When you click a link to a retailer (like Amazon, CurrentBody, or LookFantastic) and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

How this affects our reviews:

  • Affiliate commissions do not influence which products we review or how we rate them
  • We include affiliate links for products we genuinely recommend, regardless of commission rates
  • We also include links to products we don't recommend (for comparison) when relevant
  • Our affiliate relationships are disclosed on our Affiliate Disclosure page

Sponsored Content

If an article or page is fully sponsored by a brand (meaning they paid for the space), it will be clearly marked as "Sponsored" or "Ad" at the top of the page. Sponsored content is separate from our editorial reviews and does not influence our independent testing or recommendations.

Corrections & Updates

We strive for accuracy, but product specifications, prices, and availability change over time. If you notice an error in our content, please contact us. We review and update our articles periodically to reflect current information.
